I know I sound realy fresh but I am a newbie and am trying to have a go at Web Developement and stuff...
I downloaded Steffen's version of Apache 2.2 but like he sayz in readmeFirst, how do I start httpd.exe in DOS box..
I double clicked on the httpd.exe and a Command window appears but when i run the Apache Monitor, it sayz no serivice installed. How do i install a service...?
Do I have to alter any of the lines in httpd.conf file....

And if I get it goin? How do I test to see if it is running?

My environment is XP Home Edition Service Pak 2 and 512 RAM, 1.7 GigaHertz Intel

Any post to this would be more than helpful...

Thanks

If you double click the httpd.exe the server is allready runnig. If you want to install it as a service access the folder with the console (cmd (speudo
DOS)) call
Code:

httpd.exe -k install

If you don't need the service, just double klick it. When the Apache Window appears, open you browser and open http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1

put your testing files in the htdocs folder.

Good luck
