I'm used to running Wamp and Xampp and can get those online but decided to learn how to setup one from scratch. Got Mysql Apache and php all running and can connect to the website locally but not from an external ip.

Is there something extra that needs to be configured that is different from a Wamp or Xamp installation? I've read something about configuring an alias but do not see a config for that. I'm guessing it has something to do with the suggested answer here in the link below. Advice and suggestion are greatly appreciated.
