The domain sambarserver.info is expiring 19-Nov-2016. I do not renew it.

So 19 Nov is the end of samberserver .info.

Well it was a good ride ....

If we get enough people wanting it to stay on, maybe I could host it?
(if you and the community were cool with that)

Seems to be a good idea to host this site somewhere else.

I guess we've got just over a week before the site goes, and really Sambar for good, as this is the only surviving website left.
I can still host this beasty , but I would need a data dump (just normal MySQL dump - I have phpBB3 running already), so if the owner/auth is willing to hand it over lemme know here and I'll email you Very Happy

Handing over the Database is legal problematic. When users are registering there is stated: information will not be disclosed to any third party. I will keep that promise.

Also it costs me too much to keep the domain:

1 Year $37.00
2 Years $72.00
3 Years $99.00

So best is to let the domain expire and still you can ask questions at www.apachelounge.com

Yes I totally get it. Usually when I receive data dumps the sensitive info. is removed, but I just wasn't thinking really. I might start a new Sambar dedicated forum, just be a bummer for everyone to loose their creds and posts.

Hello Steffen,

sad to see the Sambar Forum go. It had helped me a lot,
especially in the beginning, I think back in 2006 (?).

As Sambar is still a great server product, I am still running my production server with it, but moved away from Windows and it is running on Debian for a year now. Actually even less problems. It sits and runs. Very Happy

I hope others who are still using Sambar will have the same experince.

My sambar server itself runs since years without bigger problems and i am using sambar since version 4.2 or at least 4.3.
Only php and mysql causing problems because the php-isapi interface doesn't exist anymore and newer mysql versions seems to be not as compatible as i thought with an old webserver like sambar...

From my point of view there would be another option. Perhaps Steffen can integrate sambarserver.info somewhere in the apachelounge. I would be happy with a readonly version. There are so many helpful informations about different parts of sambar here at sambarserver.info, i will not loose any piece of anything. It is sad enough that Tod shutdown his servers and did not answer questions for the sourcecode.

Made a redirect, so now all links are pointing now to www.apachelounge.com/sambar/ . Of course inside posts there are links which are pointing to sambarserver.info.

Hello all,

Great idea from ronald and that you implemented this Steffen.

@Steffen, one idea for the links to sambarserver.info inside the post. What about placing an entry into the hosts file pointing sambarserver.info to the machine's ip of the server running this forum ? You propably have to add the domain to the webserver as well.

I think that should work. At least it's worth a try. Wink
