Has anyone attempted to install the Apache webserver on a Windows XP Embedded system? I?m trying but it doesn?t seem to be working out very well. It seems that everything happens fine on the install (no surprises in the install log), but the service will not start. Looking at the error log wasn?t of any particular help. Log info as follows:

[crit] (OS 2)The system cannot find the file specified. : Parent: Unable to connect child stdout to NUL.

[crit] (OS 2)The system cannot find the file specified. : master_main: create child process failed. Exiting.

[notice] Parent: Forcing termination of child process 2539104

It seems to be the installation error that apache can not find the service name. Which version of Apache did you try to install?

This error indicates that you do not have any device named NUL on your XP-Embedded system.

I suspect you need to install a Null Device Driver component.

I don't run XP-Embedded, but a little Googling shows that you must
"set your visibility level to the lowest value - 100 - in order to select this component"
Perhaps you know what this means?

Hi!

Sorry, I just startet working with XPe a few days ago, so I'm really a beginner with XPe and don't now how to set the visibility level so get my apache started. Could someone maybe give me a hint on this?
Do I need the Target Designer (and SP 2 Feature Pack 2007) or are there other (easier) ways?

Beste regard,
David
