How did you set up the new php in httpd.conf? Are you sure that you load the new files and not the older version?

Ok! Now I got it! You do not need any more to replace the php5apache2.dll

Please load php5apache2_2.dll from php.net

The newer PHP's support apache 2.2.x by default
