Can anyone recommend a mail server to run with Apache on Windows ?

- I have noticed already SmarterMail but that seems to need IIS.

- Also there is "James" Mail but I have no experience

Depends what you want. How many users, domains, what kind of Spam detection etc.

I recommend the Sambar mailserver for a low budget, it costs 99$, but you have a lot goodies extra, like a ftp server, easy to install. see
www.apachelounge.com/sambar for more info (indeed also my site )

For more professional use and all the possible (spam) features, I recommend Surgemail, see http://netwinsite.com/surgemail/ .
