Our current Apache is 2.4.4 on windows server 2008 after our recent upgrade.

I've recently inherited this server and wanted to know how to harden the httpd.conf file and avoid common pitfalls.

Also, someone is attempting a directory traversal attack, twice in the past 3 days, and are there conf settings to make sure they fail?

Apache 2.4.4 is almost three years old. There are a lot changes since 2.4.4. So best to upgrade first.

For directory traversal attack, see https://www.owasp.org/index.php/File_System#Path_traversal
