Just something I figured out after a day of head scratching.

Trend Micro's Housecall (I use as a secondary check) drops a patch.exe file into %WINDOWS%, so as you can imagine, it want's to get executed before GNU patch since it is in the path (in many cases) ahead of GNU Patch.

So if your patching and get nothing in response from the call, nor anything when calling "patch --help," check %Windows% if you've ever been to Trend Micro's Housecall.
