Hi,
I had a personal server running for a little while and everything worked just fine when I was using it. I turned it off a little while ago because I wasn't using it and early today turned it back on only to discover others can't connect anymore. I've tried and looked at everything I know of but I can't figure out why others can't connect. It works for me when I type in my address and nothings changed since it was working so I'm very confused right now. Can anyone offer some advice as to what's causing my problem?
Thanks in advance,

My first suggestion is a firewall (including windows firewall) and / or virus scanner.
Which OS do you use? |

Thanks for the reply James Blond.
Vista Ultimate is the OS the server is running on. I have an exception for Apache in the windows firewall to allow inbound connections on port 3661, which what I set Apache to listen for in httpd.conf. It should be configured correctly but just in case the settings are:
Protocol type: TCP
Local port: 3661
Remote port :3661
In the time I wasn't running the server I did install COMODO Firewall although it's been turned off for a while because it was causing problems. Not sure if this is relevant or not but I have also been unable to connect server via ftp due to some setting/configuration on my computer.
Thank you for your help,

COMODO Firewall is for XP only, or was. Probably why you had problems. I'd suggest removing it completely. This may not turn out to fix the immediate problem, but it can stop other problems in the future from showing up.
Has your IP changed? |

COMODO is now for vista 32bit and I use dyndns to keep track of my IP, and that was the first thing I checked lol. Anyway I had time to stop by the library earlier today where I checked to see if I could access my server and sure enough it worked. Don't know what went wrong when my friend checked but all's well that works in the end. Thank you for taking your time to help me anyway.
