hello -

i have not touched this in YEARS and its been working fine but suddenly:

when i reference http://www.MYDOMAIN.com i see a webpage now that just says

Apache is functioning normally

nothing has changed in years. the httpd.conf still says:

Code:
ServerName MYDOMAIN.com
ServerAlias www.MYDOMAIN.com
ServerAlias *.MYDOMAIN.com

and removing/replacing the .htaccess file which has also not been changed in years does not seem to do anything.

also, http://www.MYDOMAIN.com forwards to "Apache is functioning normally" while http://FAKENAME.MYDOMAIN.com goes to "this site cannot be reached Check if there is a typo in..."

any idea why this is suddenly happening??

Server version: Apache/2.4.37 (rocky)

thank you!

Hi edward,
this sound more like and DNS issue rather than an apache issue.

James Blond - you have helped me out greatly over the years!

it turns out trying to use subdomains over a VPN (who does not seem to recognize my DNS settings) is the issue.

weird, because today i was just getting a 'page not found' error.

THANK YOU! your suggestion got me looking in the right place.
