Great news are MySQL finally released new Community release - MySQL 5.0.33, which however as promised comes without Binaries. See post about this subject: www.apachelounge.com/viewtopic.php?t=1231

To help those who would like to use MySQL Community version but does not like to build binaries I decided to make available a Win32 build for MySQL 5.0.33 Community release.

It is build with the latest Windows® Platform SDK and Visual Studio C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 aka VC8 SP1, which have improvements in areas like Performance, MemoryManagement and Stability.

This is a single release build of MySQL-NT, it doesn't include MySQL-Max or any debug information. Packaged in a zip.

Release notes: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/releasenotes-cs-5-0-33.html

Hi! I am one of the people who likes to compile the sources. Does anyone know a good guide or tutorial for compiling MySQL 5.0.x under Windows? I tried to compile MySQL 5.0.33 with VS.NET 2005 SP1 using the MySQL manual and I failed.

The answer from tdonovan to build MySQL is moved to www.apachelounge.com/viewtopic.php?p=6124 , it fits better there.
