Anyone know if Apache can display the Win32 file summary (ie author, subject title) in the default Index of/ file list as well as the file names?

Thnks,

In short - no.

This info is embedded within the file in the older Microsoft-proprietary (.doc, .xls, etc.) binary formats.

The new Office 2007 OpenXML formats (.docx, .xlsx, etc.) are more accessible, but I still don't think it is very likely that Apache will ever include the ability to extract this info for directory listings.
